Jakarta, metropostnews.com - The Jakarta Provincial Government has closed eight minimarts at three administration areas regarding the finding of 37 illegal minimarts which are violating Bylaw No 2/2002 about Private Marketing. The city administration should close those minimarts because the distance is less than 500 meters to traditional market. The bylaw requires minimart distance is above it.Those eight minimarts are six Alfamart; each two Alfamarts in West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Central Jakarta, also two Indomarets in West Jakarta on Jl Keagungan Raya and Jl Utama Raya, Cengkarengbarat, Cengkareng.
The closure of Indomaret led by West Jakarta Vice Mayor Sukarno together with Public Relation Indomaret Anna Nenny Krisyawati. About 10 personnel of Satpol PP were immediately stand by around minimart on Jl Keagungan Raya. It aims to manage traffic congestion because there were many societies who want to see in this closure.
Sukarno expressed there will be nine minimarts in West Jakarta to be closed due to violating the distance requirement. "We do not care with the license. Violating the distance means must be closed," he said.
From those nine minimarts, there were only two minimarts closed today. “We have given a warning letter to them and this closure is conducted by minimart owner,” he expressed.
He strongly stated that his side is still waiting next stage related to the seven minimarts which have not been closed yet. If those seven minimarts are not closed, so West Jakarta Administration will give second to third warning letter.
Indomaret Public Relation Anna Nenny Krisyawati mentions there are three indomarets which violate the regulation, such as two in West Jakarta and one in Central Jakarta. “This closure is our attitude to support Jakarta Capital City Government’s decree,” she said.
In separated place, Central Jakarta Administration also conducted closure to the minimarts.
In this closure, Central Jakarta Mayor Saefullah accompanied with Alfamart Corporate Affair Director, Solihin, closed one Alfamart on Jl Kebon Kosong Raya, Kemayoran. It is because minimart’s distance is only 100 meters from Jamblang and Nangka Traditional Market.
“We have given warning letter to them two days ago. In fact, it responded by Alfamart with closing their minimarts immediately," Saefullah stated.
Solihin admitted that the closure has caused investment loss as much as Rp 700 – 800 million per outlet. Alfamart may move the closed outlet employees to another outlet, while the logistic is sent back to Alfamart distribution center.
Alfamart Corporate Communication Choirullah hoped the retail business in Jakarta will be getting better. "Our business has abosorbed 54 thousand people around Indonesia and 10 thousand people in Jakarta," he explained.
The closure of two minimarts in North Jakarta were on Jl Mundu, Lagoa, Koja which is near with Lontar Market, and on Jl Duku, Lagoa, Koja which is near with Sinar Market. (jek)
