PD Pasar Jaya to Pursue Modern Market Existence

Jakarta, metropostnews.com - PD Pasar Jaya is about to revitalize traditional markets in Jakarta in order to balance the existence of modern markets. There are 11 markets to be renovated and two others will be revitalized.

Assistant Manager for Public Relation Division of PD Pasar Jaya, Yohanes Daramonsidi, said that renovation will be applied for the entire building, while revitalization is only adding the building facility. "We have to pursue the competition ability with modern market," Yohanes said, recently.

According to him, the effort of revitalization and renovation has been done since 2009, also renovation for 13 traditional market in 2010. "Several of them have been launched by Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo such as Klender Market, Rawa Bening, Duren Sawit, and Bojong Indah Market," he added.

As planned before in 2012, 26 damaged traditional market will be renovated; revitalization for 13 markets by adding the facilities such as air conditioner, lighting, etc, and renovation for 17 traditional markets.

"Our commitment is keep struggling to compete with modern market by renovating and revitalizing the traditional markets.

11 traditional markets to be renovated are Blok B Tanah Abang Market, Koja Baru, Pademangan Barat, Kedoya, Cipinang Besar, Lenteng Agung, Pondok Bambu, Cidodol, Pejagalan, and Ujung Menteng Market, while two markets to be revitalized are Perniagaan and Jatinegara Market. (jek)
